Our founder, Alexis Cate, is a dedicated Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience providing clinical care in hospital and community-based settings.
As a certified EMDR therapist, EMDR Consultant-in-Training (CIT), and Clinical Trauma Professional, she integrates diverse therapeutic approaches to provide client-centered and compassion-focused care.
In addition to her clinical work, Alexis is a skilled educator and writer in behavioral health and wellness. She is passionate about bridging theory with practical application, equipping therapists with the tools to apply their learning immediately.
A proactive and driven professional, Alexis develops content designed to enhance confidence and skills, empowering individuals, families, and fellow professionals alike.

Services
Our Founder, Alexis Cate, LCSW, CCTP, CASAC provides all services and interfaces directly with clients and clinicians seeking our support.
Alexis offers behavioral health education that is evidence-based and centered on clinician growth. The focus is on enhancing clinicians' skills and knowledge while ensuring that the interventions and practices they learn are supported by scientific research. We hope to foster professional development, a deeper understanding of evidence-based practices (EBPs), and integrating these practices eclectically into clinical work.
Alexis provides individual and group consultation on complex trauma and cases involved mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, and personality disorders. She works to provide insight on patients needs through a trauma informed lens, along with the ethical obligations to patient care. Her nuanced understanding of clinical and ethical needs provides a safe and nurturing space for clinicians at all stages of their career.
Psychotherapy
Alexis provides individual, couples, family, and group therapy. Services are currently offered via Zoom at this time.

Finding Hope: Risk Assessment & Suicide Prevention talks clinicians through addressing suicidality, safety planning strategies, and identifying and/or monitoring high-risk clients.
Adulting 101: Finding Structure in the Chaos looks at the complicated aspects of emerging adulthood and the macro barriers underserved communities face. Alexis looks into Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and applies clinical strategies so that clients feel empowered to meet their basic needs in modern society.
You Are Enough: Dismantling Shame & Building Emotional Resilience in Clinical Practice is inspired by the work of Dr. Brene Brown. Alexis takes a deep dive into the world of shame, vulnerability and how we as clinicians can support clients in coming out the other side.
Where Mind Meets Body: Trauma Informed Care & Treatment explores the impacts of traumatic experiences on the brain and body. Alexis provides a comprehensive overview of the neurobiological impacts of trauma, assessment tools, and bottom-up interventions before applying top-down processing.
The Stories We Tell Ourselves: A Closer Look at the Narrative Perspective provides an overview of Narrative Therapy. Alexis explores this therapeutic model’s origins, basic tenets, and how to apply various interventions both from a narrative perspective or electrically.
Beyond Prevention: A Look at Adolescent Substance Use & Mental Health discusses the effects of substances on the adolescent brain. Alexis explores how adolescents often turn to substances to self-medicate mental health symptoms, especially those symptoms associated with trauma.
All Mixed Up: Motivational Interview and Resolving Ambivalence looks at the role of ambivalence in clients’ presentations. Alexis discusses how a Motivational Interviewing conversational style can support clients in talking themselves into changing unhelpful behaviors.

Alexis explores AI’s capabilities and limitations in this field, discussing potential benefits AI offers and critically examining the ethical implications and challenges AI brings to mental health.

Comorbid Complexities: Trauma & BPD walks clinicians through the complex intricacies of trauma and the development of borderline personality. Alexis considers the role of attachment and the healing potential of the therapeutic relationship while also addressing clinician bias in treating persons struggling with BPD.
